LEAD SINGER: Mr Andy Salter The irrepressible, larger than life chorus director of 2010 BABS Broze medal winning chorus 'Spirit of Harmony' -in fact this chorus is starting a new Bronze Age, having won this particular colour of medal 4 times out of the last 5 years! After 20 years of quartet singing, most notably with quartet High Spirits, singing tenor, he is thrilled to have eventually won his first quartet medal as the lead singer in Qube. High Spirits still continue to gig and entertain around the pub and club circuit as a rock trio. Former barbershop clubs include Harrogate, Leeds-Bradford, and of course the current Vale Of York Club, Spirit of Harmony. In real life he lives in Harrogate with his wife and 2 daughters and runs his own interior design company.
BASS: Dave Whittle Dave started singing Barbershop harmony for fun whilst at Nottingham Unversity in the early 1980s and was inspired to join the British Assocation when he witnessed his Uncle Laurie winning a gold medal with his then quartet, High Time in Harrogate 1988 and found the opportunity to sing bass with Mold-based chorus The Clwyd Clippers in 1990, singing tenor in quartet 'Designer Chords' then bass with Second Opinion but when work took him to Yorkshire in 1993, began a fantastic 12 year experience with Sheffield's 'Hallmark of Harmony' including 2 British chorus gold medals (1994 an 1997 both times in Brighton) and a trip to sing in the 1995 International competition in Miami. Quartets along the way included Tall Order, Close Encounters and 'Easy Street' the various incarnations of 'The Stunt Monkeys' one of which reached the BABS finals in 2006. 20 years on, a first quartet singing medal with Qube! Dave is also a singer/songwrier/guitarist hobbyist http://www.davewhittle.co.uk and reached the final of 2 National UK Pop songwriting competitions Song '89 and Song '90 and fronted 80's/90's pub rock band 'Back to Basics'. He also won the inaugural BABS songwriting competition at the 2009 BABS Convention in Llandudno - another Vale of York club Quartet, Quadrahedron combined with Qube (Qubrahedron)to sing Dave's winning composition 'Luv Ya So'. Dave works as a GP in The Vale of York and lives with his wife and 2 teenage daughters.
BARITONE: Tim Braham Twice winning Quartet Gold medallist with former quartets Quattro (Birmingham 1992) and Likely Lads (Brighton 2000). Tim sang with his father Mike in Leeds White Rose chorus and again when this club merged with Bradford Club to form 'The Big County Chorus'.The past few years he has enjoyed coaching Spirit of Harmony and has become 'Director of Singing' plus Lead Section leader ,despite singing baritone! His father is a baritone too. There is a Braham Family Barbershop Dynasty and wife Jo is lead snger with ladies barbershop association (LABBS) gold medal winning quartet 'After Hours'. Tim lives near Wakefield with Jo and son Jamie plus budding Ivy League barbershop star, daughter Hannah.
TENOR: David Strachan From a Scottish-Canadian combined genetic pool, has come the talented arranging machine we call 'Strax'. He is well known in the British Barbershop Association for his inspired 4-part barbershop singing arrangements and is one of the UK's top arrangers, with various published works. Top Barbershop groups have used David's arrangements e.g. Bjork's 'It's Oh So Quiet' as sung by The White Rosettes in Choir of The Year. http://www.whiterosettes.org.uk .David's daytime job is working as a civil engineer for Leeds City Council.
